An outline helps you organize your ideas, avoid repetition, and estimate the lenght of your research paper. Note the use of letters and numerals, and the observance of correct indention of entries. Review the following guidelines in writing a helpful outline. 1. Capitalize the first letter of every entry. 2. Keep your entries short and specific. 3. Indent the detail that supports the main idea. 4. An idea cannot have only one detail to support it.  An "A" must be followed by a "B";  number 1 must be followed by a number 2.5.  Entries must be similar in grammatical structure. CRITIQUE expresses your judgement of a book, film, literary piece, analyzing its merits and faults. As when making a commentary, you must first make clear the type of a book, film, the selection you are criticizing, and the lens or the approach to critic the literary piece. The FORMALIST APPROACH focuses on the form or the elements such as structure, imagery, tone, style, and genre that are found in the text.

When reading, you come across many difficult words. You can usually get the meaning of an unfamiliar word from other words in a sentence or paragraph. Words in a sentence or paragraph that help you find the meaning of new words are called CONTEXT CLUES
